The Minister of Planning and Investment - Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung
In the opening speech of the Summit, Minister of Planning and Investment – Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung stated: Vietnam has all the necessary conditions and factors to develop the semiconductor industry, including: Stable political system , favorable geographical location. The Vietnamese Government is especially interested in promoting investment cooperation and developing the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. The Government has assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and relevant ministries and agencies to develop action plans and strategies to develop this industry in Vietnam. Vietnam will develop a human resource development project with the goal of forming a team of 50,000 engineers for this industry by 2030.
Vietnam also has an abundant workforce in the engineering and technology sector, which could be a good fit for the semiconductor industry. Vietnam has prestigious research and academic institutions in the field of semiconductors such as Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, The University of Da Nang, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology
Mr. John Neuffer - Chairman of the American Semiconductor Industry Association spoke
Mr. John Neuffer - Chairman of the American Semiconductor Industry Association affirmed in his speech at the Summit: "Vietnam participates in the global semiconductor industry with many advantages such as support and comprehensive cooperation with the United States, human resources graduated in major universities. Major universities have all participated, have started and are ready to provide high-quality human resources in the field of semiconductor chips."
Speakers shared topics about the potential and human resource needs of the Semiconductor Industry
The event focused on discussing topics such as the current status and opportunities for development of the semiconductor industry, human resources and incubation centers for the field. Experts presented to the Summit issues related to "Development of the global semiconductor industry and opportunities for Vietnam"; "Preparing human resources to develop the semiconductor industry in Vietnam". The association focused on sharing and discussing contents on "Semiconductor transition trends in the world and opportunities for Vietnam", "Growth roadmap for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam", "Complexity in IC design after the Moore era: Opportunities for Vietnam to participate in the global value chain" and "Challenging opportunities to develop the semiconductor industry in Vietnam". In addition, experts also shared about the importance of forming training and research programs in the semiconductor industry at Vietnamese universities to train high-quality engineers in the Semiconductor industry.
Launching ceremony of Vietnam Semiconductor Network
To contribute to the task of developing human resources with the goal of forming a team of 50,000 engineers for Vietnam's semiconductor industry by 2030, UD-DUT has a strategy and carries out specific tasks. UD-DUT is completing procedures to open a Microelectronics major, starting to enroll students from 2024. On September 29, 2023, the school organized a seminar "Training human resources for chip Semiconductor manufacturing and opening a major in training Microelectronics engineers" with the sharing and orientation of businesses will serve as a basis to contribute to the process of building a Microelectronics Engineer training program, meeting needs of the labor market.
