Successfully organized the contest "Artificial Intelligence Innovation" for high school students

On the morning of November 28, 2021, the DILab - Digital innovation Laboratory and the Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology of the University of Science and Technology - the University of Danang collaborated with the Trade Union of University of Science and Technology Da Nang City organized the contest "Artificial Intelligence Creation", a combination of live and online, for students of high schools in Da Nang city and Quang Nam province. The contest aims to promote STEM activities to help high school students access new scientific and technological knowledge, create motivation for creativity, scientific research, and contribute to the development of quality human resources of local and national future.

Speaking at the contest, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuc - Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Da Nang city congratulated the students on having had a week of experience in Artificial Intelligence - a potential field that Society is in dire need of high-quality human resources. Speaking at the opening of the contest, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu - Vice Rector of the School expressed his excitement when the contest received a response from students in Da Nang city and Quang Nam province. The contest is continued and expanded from the scholarship program "Experience artificial intelligence for 1 week" organized by DILab Research Laboratory and Faculty of Informatics engineering in August 2021. Also at the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded the certificate of the "Artificial intelligence experience in 1 week" course to high school students in Da Nang city and Quang Nam province.

Based on the basic knowledge of artificial intelligence and curiosity, groups of high school students brought to the competition "Artificial Intelligence Creation" with 14 topics that were highly appreciated by the jury. Although affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, some groups in Quang Nam had to participate online, but all candidates prepared their presentations carefully along with confident and convincing presentations before the Board of Directors. survey. Through professional comments and assessments from experts, student groups have more orientation to develop topics better, more effectively, and solve more problems.

At the contest, thematic reports on AI Application from the Speakers also provided students and lecturers with many creative ideas in applying artificial intelligence to work. Like “Recommender System: Applications; Research Problems and Future directions” by Dr. Vo Dinh Nam – Department of Education affairs - UD; "Application of AI in the field of construction" by Dr. Ngo Ngoc Tri – Vice Dean of Faculty of Project Management; “Application of AI in banking” by MSc. Ngo Thuy Linh – Banking Academy.

At the same time, also in this event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Tuan introduced to all lecturers and high school students about the program "DILab DSPAI Hub" - Digital environment to share and experience signal processing applications. Digitalization (DSP) and artificial intelligence (AI) in the fields of smart city development. Through this area of specialized research, the DILab DSPAI Hub program will develop a model of connecting Governments - High Schools - Universities - Domestic and international enterprises, aiming to support learners in developing research skills. basic research, project management, design thinking, innovation, entrepreneurship and STEM competencies, career orientation. These programs will be supported by the University of Science and Technology - UD in cooperation with enterprises to promote support for high school students in the coming time.

The contest "Artificial Intelligence Innovation" ended with great success. The Organizing Committee announced and awarded the award sponsored by FOSSIL Vietnam Co., Ltd., Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology and DILab Digital Innovation Lab for groups of high school students with excellent topics and presentations, with high scientific content and applicability.
