COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE (UON), AUSTRALIA AND UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY - UNIVERSITY OF DA NANG (DUT) INTRODUCTION 3+2 DUT – UON TRANSFER PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS OF VN-US ADVANCED PROGRAM OF FAST

On the morning of September 27, 2019, representatives of Newcastle (UON), Australia visited and worked with the University of Science and Technology - the University of Danang on promoting the implementation of the 3+2 transfer training program.

Attending the meeting, on the side of University of Science and Technology - University of Danang, there was Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Le Hung - Chief of Board of Science, Technology & Environment, University of Danang, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh - Vice Rector of the University, Dr. Nguyen Le Hoa - Dean, Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu - Vice Dean and teachers and students of the Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology (FAST).

Representatives of the University of Newcastle (UON), Australia include Professor Rick Middleton - Rector of the School of Electrical and Computational Engineering, Mr. Lam Khoa - International Student Recruitment Department.

The University of Newcastle (UoN) is an Australian public university established in 1965, located in Callaghan, a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales. University of Newscatle is in the top 10 best universities in Australia; top universities in the world by QS World University Rankings; ranked 8th worldwide for Automation and Control Engineering by Shanghai Global Ranking 2019. Up to now, the university has become an excellent educational institution with more than 40,000 students enrolled, including more than 7,000 international students from more than 100 countries around the world. 

Through the discussion, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation in implementing the 3+2 DUT-UON transfer training program for the Electronics and Telecommunications (ECE) and Embedded Systems (ES) industries under the Vietnamese - American Advanced Program of FAST . Thus, after completing the 3rd year at DUT, students of advanced program majoring in ECE and ES meet the following conditions: GPA from 6.5/10, IELTS 6.0, if you wish to study in Australia, you will be considered to continue studying for 2 more years at UON to receive a UON Engineering degree. This cooperation helps students have the opportunity to study in the first years in Vietnam to get used to the university environment and prepare well for the first time studying at DUT, saving study abroad costs but still ensuring the quality of life and study at an international standard program and get a university degree in Australia. This cooperation thereby affirms the prestige of Da Nang University of Science and Technology by the quality of its training meeting internationally recognized standards.

Speaking at the meeting, representatives of the two universities expressed their desire to further develop the cooperative relationship so that lecturers and students have the opportunity to study, exchange and promote cooperation in scientific research.

Professor Rick Middleton would like to thank the Board of Directors and leaders of the units for the warm and thoughtful welcome to the delegation and hope to welcome the students to UON to study in the shortest time.
