On the evening of October 27, 2022 at the Hanoi Opera House, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth Union Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Innovation Support Fund (1992-2022) and the ceremony to summarize and award the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award, the WIPO Award in 2021 (Vifotec) ).

The Vifotec Awards is held annually, and so far there have been nearly 3,000 entries and 983 award-winning works. The Vifotec Prize is awarded for typical research works, applied in practice, contributing to socio-economic development in order to honor the scientific and technological innovations of Vietnamese scientists.

In 2022, a scientific research project of University of Science and Technology - The University of Danang received the Vifotec Prize 2021. This work was awarded to Dr. Bui Xuan Dong for the project carried on in the period of 2017 - 2019 with the title: "Production of nutritious seasoning powder from tuna dark muscle by biotechnology", code 03.17/CNSHCB. This project has been deployed and applied at Ha Long Seafood Export Processing Joint Stock Company. It is known that this is the second time the research team led by Dr. Bui Xuan Dong received the Vifotec award. In 2015, the project "Research on the suitable processing of seafood waste in Danang city" also received the Vifotec consolation prize 2015.

Receiving the Vifotec Award 2021 is an honor for the research team led by Dr. Bui Xuan Dong is the chairman, this honor is expressed as the statement of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue at the Vifotec Awards 2021: “The very proud tradition of 30 years of construction and development will be the the source of motivation to strengthen the Vifotec Foundation to operate and develop as the 8 golden words that General Vo Nguyen Giap donated to the Fund "Science - Justice - Integrity - Efficiency". I believe that the Vifotec Foundation will continue to lay the foundation for the passion for science and technology research among people from all walks of life, arouse the passion for creativity among young generations across the country, help them become become future owners and inventors, making important contributions to building a prosperous and developing country".
